TREND ALERT: Fun with Food

Since the weather has been warmer Dave and I have spent a lot more time cooking outside on the grill and chopping fresh fruits and veggies for our meals. We’re trying to eat a little healthier and steer clear of our winter weakness – sweets. I haven’t really missed our 9 PM brownies or after dinner cookies. Those less than healthy options have been replaced with low fat kettle corn and sugar free pudding snacks with strawberries.

That being said, even though we’re not eating (as frequently) the treats that we love it doesn’t mean we can’t look at them. This brings me to the true topic at hand. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching the felt food trend; sweet treats done up with felt, yarn, and other fun textures. Some of these items make me laugh while others leave me speechless because they are so amazingly awesome!! Consider this your calorie-free buffet of yummy-ness that won’t prevent you from getting into that beach bikini of yours. Enjoy!

Life is like a box of chocolates (sorry, I had to say it).

They Call Me Mellow Yellow

With spring on the horizon I’ve been trying to think of some inexpensive ways to de-winterize our house. I have a bit of a love affair with throw pillows...much to my husband’s dismay. Dave hates the fact that he's always moving pillows. To this I promptly respond that they're "cute." So far, "cuteness" reins supreme.

But I digress.

So I was thinking it might be fun to add some yellow pillows into our mix of red, black, and turquoise in the great room. You know, add a puch of something springy. Since I have yellow on the brain and some time to kill I’ve been pursuing Etsy for a few brilliant d├ęcor ideas. If you’ve never looked at Etsy I would highly recommend it. It is a treasure trove of all things handmade (and amazingly awesome!).

I love this flock of yellow and black birds and I love how these relatively simple vinyl clings make such a dramatic impact.

This bag is designed to hold a laptop, but I think it would be a perfect tote for my church stuff. Plus, it is dang cute!

More vinyl that makes me swoon. I'd totally put this in a little girl's room. I'd highlight the letter of her first name (which would be E if we had a daughter today) and use it to teach her the abc's.

Simple stationary that makes me smile. Hello, right back at ya!

**Love you.**

I saw something similar to this on Kalyn's blog and fell in love immediately! I love everything about this: the crown, the colors, and the message.

Also, I'm going to be on a local morning TV show (Studio 5) tomorrow morning so if you live in my area make sure to set your DVR!
